We are currently seeking a passionate and strategic Assistant Headteacher – Culture and Wellbeing to join our senior leadership team. This is a unique opportunity to shape whole-school culture and lead on wellbeing for students and staff alike.
What You’ll Do
As Assistant Headteacher, your responsibilities will include:
- Strategic Leadership
- Lead and implement a whole-school wellbeing strategy aligned with SEND needs.
- Promote a restorative, inclusive school culture with student wellbeing at its core.
- Coach and support teaching staff in effective practice and curriculum delivery.
- Champion trauma-informed practice through staff training and leadership.
- Promote diversity, equity, and student voice across all aspects of school life.
- Use data and feedback to measure the impact of wellbeing and culture initiatives.
- Lead systems to support pupil mental health, behaviour, and emotional regulation.
- Design initiatives that promote staff wellbeing and resilience.
- Work collaboratively with families, external agencies, and pastoral teams.
- Line manage pastoral/therapeutic staff and support school improvement planning.
- Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL).
- Support the delivery of CPD related to trauma-informed practice and behaviour.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Strong knowledge of SEMH, ASD, and ADHD
- Experience leading wellbeing or cultural initiatives
- Committed to trauma-informed, inclusive, and restorative practices
Desirable:
- Experience in a leadership role in a specialist or inclusive setting
- Experience working with families and multi-agency teams
- DSL/DDSL training (or willingness to train)
