Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Heavy Manufacturing Location: Sheffield Employment Type: Permanent Salary: £44,000 – £60,000 base + Shift Allowance + Overtime + Benefits A leading heavy industrial manufacturer is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join its maintenance and engineering team. This is a critical hands-on role within a fast-paced, safety-focused environment offering long-term stability and investment in both plant and people. Key Responsibilities: * Perform planned preventative and reactive maintenance on a wide range of heavy industrial machinery. * Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across equipment including conveyors, hydraulic systems, gearboxes, pumps and bearings. * Support the installation and commissioning of machinery and capital upgrades. * Collaborate with production, engineering and reliability teams to maximise machine uptime and performance. * Maintain accurate records and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. Key Requirements: * Time-served or NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds qualified in mechanical engineering or equivalent. * Proven experience in a similar role within a heavy manufacturing, processing or engineering environment. * Confident working with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical drives, and rotating equipment. * A proactive approach to safety, reliability and root-cause problem solving. * Able to work independently and as part of a structured engineering team.
