Deputy Chief Fire Officer
Location: North Yorkshire. This role is based in Northallerton, with travel required across North Yorkshire and the City of York to fulfil the responsibilities of the role and the Continuous Duty System.
Salary: £134,299 – £142,092 including Continuous Duty Allowance

The Opportunity
We’re seeking an exceptional leader to join North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service as Deputy Chief Fire Officer. Working alongside the Chief Fire Officer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a high-quality, community-focused service that drives sustainable progress while developing and leading our people to make our communities safer.
We’re preparing to launch our new Community Risk Management Plan, setting out our priorities and risks for the next five years. You will be instrumental in delivering this plan, shaping the future of the Service, and ensuring we continue to meet the evolving needs of our communities.
We are looking for a people-focused leader with a proven track record in strategic leadership and demonstrable outcome-focused delivery. The successful candidate will lead with integrity, lead inclusive and high-performing teams, and drive service improvements that make a tangible impact. Experience in navigating complex stakeholder environments, building trusted relationships, and translating strategic vision into operational excellence is essential.

Eligibility Criteria
- Demonstrable strategic leadership experience at Area Manager level or above within a Fire and Rescue Service
- Qualified to Incident Command Level 4 (ICL L4) or equivalent and MAGIC.
- Executive Leadership Programme/Masters Degree or equivalent (including working towards)
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
