An established and respected civil and structural engineering consultancy in Birmingham is looking to appoint a Flood Risk & Drainage Engineer with around 4-5 years' post-graduate experience (though more experienced applicants are also welcome). You'll join a team with nearly 60 years of engineering heritage, known for its collaborative, creative and professional approach to delivering value-driven solutions across the UK.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading and supporting the delivery of flood risk assessments (FRAs) and drainage strategies across a range of projects.
  • Working closely with civil and structural engineers to integrate flood risk and drainage into wider design proposals.
  • Contributing to sustainable drainage design (SuDS), modelling and compliance with planning and regulatory frameworks.
  • Supporting junior staff and collaborating with external consultants and stakeholders.

Ideal experience:

  • Circa 4-5 years' experience in flood risk and drainage design (more senior applicants also considered).
  • Strong understanding of drainage strategy design, surface water management and relevant policy guidance.
  • Proficiency in design software and modelling tools (e.g., MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, or similar).
  • Passion for problem-solving and delivering sustainable, high-quality engineering solutions.
