Who we are looking for A Cloud Platform Engineer will be embedded within teams responsible for delivering and operating cloud services within Data Engineering. The next phase involves expanding our public cloud capabilities and establishing a seamless operating model. The goal is to leverage delivery speed and flexibility of the self-serve model while maintaining a strong relationship with the core platform team. Cloud Platform Engineers are embedded within the Data Engineering team to build, operate, and support critical cloud products. We seek someone passionate about innovative initiatives who can make an immediate impact by bringing their experience into a challenging yet vibrant environment. Support and training will be provided to facilitate growth and progression. This role is suitable for those with a development background transitioning to cloud technologies or cloud engineers eager to work closely with development teams. The position qualifies for our hybrid work-from-home policy. Preferred Skills, Qualifications, and Experience Prior experience with public cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud. Strong knowledge of core platform components such as Projects, Folders, IAM, and Billing. Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), preferably Terraform. Knowledge of GitOps practices and experience is advantageous. Proficiency in source code management, especially Git. Ability to automate and script using tools like G-Cloud CLI, Bash, Python, and Golang. Experience with modern platform stacks such as Kubernetes or GKE, including service mesh, ingress, CI/CD, monitoring, and security tools. Experience managing Docker images. Understanding of networking in public cloud environments. Awareness of security considerations in public cloud operations. Main Responsibilities Deploy, operate, and support cloud resources as part of a software team. Ensure end-to-end delivery of cloud resources for software initiatives. Influence and guide others on cloud adoption practices. Collaborate with the Cloud Platform Team to embed standards and principles. Support and consult with stakeholders. Promote engineering excellence through modern practices. Assist in developing next-generation self-serve automation tools.
