About the role
Verisure Legal – strong, impactful and business-focused. Our combined legal, compliance, privacy and regulatory advocacy team consists of over 65 lawyers and other professionals across the organisation. It is a highly diverse team representing 15 nationalities, from three continents, and with a strong gender balance across all levels of the team, including the Group Legal management team.

Verisure is seeking a talented, innovative passionate qualified In-House Commercial Lawyer with marketing and/or consumer law experience to join our growing and successful legal team within the UK organisation. The role will report to the Head of Legal UK and will work closely with the UK team and functions (including sales, marketing, finance, operations and HR) as well as the Group Legal team.
The primary focus will be on commercial contract reviews, reviewing customer facing marketing material for compliance with CAP/BCAP codes, including emails, flyers, websites and our various marketing channels. Experience in marketing regulatory compliance within a data protection (PECR and UKGDPR) framework is essential. There is also an opportunity to support a small case load of general commercial litigation.
The Senior Commercial Lawyer will be a key member of the Legal team, alongside legal colleagues focusing on Data Privacy, Commercial Contracts, Consumer Rights and marketing compliance. This role provides an outstanding platform for a highly talented individual to be a leader in identifying actionable solutions for risk mitigation and commercial contracting.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare, maintain, and update data protection compliance documentation and dealing with relevant enquiries.
- Primary point of contact for consumer regulatory and privacy related enquiries, providing appropriate advice and guidance to internal business functions.
- Conduct Privacy impact assessments as necessary for marketing campaigns and projects.
- Deliver data protection related training across functions.
- Engage with Lead Generation suppliers conducting DPIA’s and negotiating DPAs as required.
- Experience of working on data protection related consumer disputes and interactions with consumer law regulatory authorities is an advantage.
- Support the Marketing team and other functions in the review and negotiation of contracts.
- Mitigate risks and organisational exposure through the review of contracts and customer facing material.
- Manage the contract repository, update, and review contracts for renewal as necessary.
- Participate in group initiatives to ensure alignment across global legal team.
- Attend group driven meetings and projects.
- Occasional European travel may be required in future.
Your Skills & Experience
- UK University Law degree and LPC (or equivalent legal professional qualification).
- Prior experience working in-house in a UK based commercial/corporate legal team with good knowledge of consumer rights. (QLTS/SQE qualifications will be considered).
- Demonstrable relevant PQE is preferred.
- Experience in marketing (regulatory framework within a data protection context (PECR and UK GDPR compliance).
- Working knowledge of data protection law within the UK.
- Good knowledge and experience in commercial contract review, negotiation and contract life cycle management.
- Ability to advise on commercial contract risks and data protection enquiries in simple and concise terms.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Resourcefulness and strong analytical skills.
- Team player, able to work collaboratively across various areas of business expertise: coordination and communication skills. Collaborative working is key!
