Overview
This role is all about making digital products and services more accessible.
You will work directly with our clients to embed accessibility in all aspects of their digital work. This involves assessing websites and apps against current accessibility standards, recommending improvements and working with teams to implement the changes effectively.
The ideal person for this role is someone who is user-led, putting people first.
This role would suit someone who works well on their own and as part of a small team.

What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will provide support, advice and guidance to our clients about how to create accessible digital services.
This will include the following roles and responsibilities:
- attending and inputting into discovery and design meetings
- providing design consultancy services
- auditing against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines
- moderating inclusive usability studies
- provide advice and recommendations to stakeholders based on your specialist knowledge and experience
- build consensus between stakeholders
- identify problems or issues and advise on solutions to rectify them
- motivate teams to develop the most appropriate solution
- manage inclusive usability studies from planning to execution
- explain the difference between user needs and the desires of the user
- prioritise and define approaches to understand the user story, guiding others in doing so
- offer recommendations on the best tools and methods to use
This is a new role and there may be other duties from time to time.

- perform detailed audits of websites, services and documents, document findings clearly, and provide solutions for others to work from
- understand and persuasively communicate how usability influences accessibility, and the boundary between them
- advocate removing barriers across all your interactions
- provide training on a range of accessibility issues
- demonstrate confidence using a range of assistive technologies
Salary and benefits
- Salary: £40,000 per annum, (£50,000 pro rata)
- Fully flexible working patterns, agreed in advance and available from your first day. This could mean condensed hours, flexible start and end times or changing working days. We’ll discuss this with you upfront, so you can be sure that you will have the work life balance that works best for you.
- 25 days (inclusive of bank holidays).
- 5% employer pension contributions
- Annual allowance of £500 to spend on relevant professional development courses and conferences
