Project Controls Engineer – Greater Manchester Job Description
We have a new opportunity to work within a growing contract as a Project Controls Engineer. Working with the You will work with the Project Controls Lead and the team to deliver a wide portfolio of work focusing on infrastructure improvement in the nuclear energy sector. Y ou will support and manage cost and planning activities and change control. Supporting in project reporting, generation of dashboards and other progress data such as cost and schedule \\\\\\\’S\\\\\\\’ curves etc. There will be regular communication with the Project Management Team to generate accurate resource forecast histograms and participation in resource forecast meetings using BMS software Power BI (Training provided) and ensuring, monitoring and control of a specified project is carried out professionally and in compliance with Costain and client Project Controls requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with the client teams to support a collaborative approach to reporting
  • Support data gathering for continuous improvement, LFE and developing estimating, cost and planning norms and development of templates and tools
  • Facilitate and maintain the Project change control and risk management processes, analysing trends and providing feedback on areas of risk and opportunities and maintain the project baselines as required
  • Supporting Managers in the production of monthly reports through the provision of intelligent information and analysis and support in compilation of forecasts.
  • Support the planning team to establish Earned Value Analysis (EVA) and ensure that monthly reporting is accurate, including any additional measures required under the contract and help provide insight.
  • Compilation of all Weekly and Monthly Reports with: KPI\\\\\\\’s; Dashboards; Statistics; Forecast; General Narrative; Resource planning and management; Risk and opportunity management
  • Update baseline plan and cost report with hours and claimed progress as well as monitoring planned and actual spends (hours and cost)
  • Analyse, evaluate and forecast project status against the baseline plan and approved budget, advise if slippage or forecast overspend

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn
  • Quality focussed – meticulous and methodical with an eye for detail
  • Ability to deliver under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining high quality of work
  • Ability to analyse data to recognise emerging trends and suggest remedial action as appropriate as well as input to business process improvement
  • High level of analytical and numerate skills and well versed in the preparation of reports and information using packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience using data visualisation tool Microsoft Power BI, creating meaningful graphs and dashboards
  • Degree qualified or with extensive experience in a similar role
  • Proficient in using, Word and Excel
  • Project Reporting skills incl Power Bi
  • Previous experience with / exposure to databases
