Sheridan Maine is delighted to be partnering with a highly respected, award-winning Top 100 accountancy firm based in North London to recruit a Tax Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tax professional to take on a varied and rewarding role within a growing practice.

The role involves managing a diverse portfolio of clients - including private individuals, entrepreneurs, owner-managed businesses, charities, and large limited companies across various sectors. You will be responsible for delivering both compliance and advisory services, while also contributing to the ongoing development of the firm's tax function.

Your responsibilities as the Tax Manager will include:

  • Prepare and review R&D tax claims and tax clearance applications for complex transactions.
  • Advise on inheritance tax and lifetime planning, including BPR and relief optimisation.
  • Implement and advise on share schemes such as EMI and CSOP.
  • Provide guidance on corporation tax matters, including expenditure treatment and capital allowances.
  • Advise on VAT, SDLT, ATED, and associated reliefs for property transactions.
  • Deliver tax planning for non-UK domiciled individuals across income tax, CGT, and IHT.
  • Assist with capital gains tax and income tax reliefs, including loss relief, pension relief, and business asset disposal relief.
  • Support clients with EIS/SEIS applications and obtaining HMRC advance assurance.
  • Interpret and apply anti-avoidance legislation, including TOAA and gains attribution rules.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities for the firm using existing business relationships, or by building and developing new opportunities for business development.

To be considered for the position of Tax Manager, you will require the following skills and qualifications:

  • CTA qualified (or QBE would be considered).
  • Significant experience in a tax-focused role within a UK accountancy practice.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing and developing client relationships.
  • Confident in dealing with complex tax matters and delivering clear, practical advice.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in managing or mentoring junior staff.
  • Excellent knowledge of CCH.
