PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Working in a team of 10 surveyors you will have your own instructions to run as you see fit but with experienced support from industry leading partners. We discuss problems as a team and you will be encouraged to try new approaches to solve novel problems for clients. We are open to new ideas and as a small team we can adapt our mode of working quickly where benefits can be gained.
Interaction between departments is actively encouraged and underpins relationships which sustain business development – a crucial ingredient to our success. You will need to communicate effectively both what you need from and what you can provide to other teams.
We need a surveyor / senior surveyor with experience of Business Rates Checks and Challenges to work reliably within their capabilities whilst using the resource of the team to enhance their ability and to expand those skills, in time, to potentially include Lease Advisory work.
You will quickly be delivering work from Floor Area Checks to revaluation appeals to Section 44a requests and deletion opportunities.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build successful business relationships with the department’s client base
- Identify opportunities to make financial savings for clients
- Carry out inspections and surveys
- Financial and client reporting.
- Draft, submit and track revaluation and MCC appeals and Section 44a requests for tenants
- Draft submit and pursue “Deletions” of property from the Rating List
- Gather comparable evidence from databases and their network of contacts
- Negotiate with the VOA
- Provide general advice in order to minimise client\’s business rates liability
- Business development to secure new clients and creating opportunities for other service lines.

- Willing and able to develop their network internally and externally
- Ability to win a reasoned argument by reference to facts, and to negotiate a settlement on that basis.
