The Opportunity

The purpose of the Saltend Chemical Park Manager is to oversee and support the SHEQ, commercial, business and legislative requirements and be the SCP ‘Accountable Person’, ensuring compliance and delivering the px Group Operating Standard through leadership, direction and management of strategy, actions and results. You will successfully lead, engage and manage the SCP leadership team in implementation of the above.

Key Responsibilities

  • In line with px and client requirements, responsibility for safe, commercial running of SCP and associated px assets.
  • Ensure all SHEQ, commercial, legislative and business requirements are met, maintained and improved.
  • Lead, manage and engage the SCP leadership team and other assigned personnel, taking overall responsibility for their supervision, development, welfare and overall effectiveness.
  • Site role model consistently demonstrating px’s zero harm SHEQ and risk management strategies, Company values, behaviours, policies and practices.
  • Be the site focal point for positive competent authority engagement and management, ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Build, maintain and manage effective and timely client, customer, contractor relationships balancing and delivering px and client commercial requirements ensuring safe, efficient asset running and excellence in customer/client service.
  • Develop, lead, communicate and deliver the SCP Annual Operating and Business plan, overall philosophy, procedures and systems.
  • Consistently achieve required performance measures and statutory and management reporting.
  • Ensure their effective communication, understanding and monitoring by all employees.
  • Effectively plan, justify, control and optimise SCP budgets, financial considerations and contracts.
  • Develop and actively participate in local, industrial and government activities, maintaining positive public and business relationships.
  • Be an active member of the px plant managers’ forum, sharing best practice & supporting others.
  • As required, provide out of hours and emergency call out support.
  • Maintain professional competency by actively developing new and enhancing existing skills and knowledge and positively present the role of Saltend Chemicals Park Manager, the SCP and the px business to all.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • HND equivalent level qualification in process/engineering discipline.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • Contributions in 24/7 COMAH operations or engineering environments, at senior manager level.
  • Business planning: development & implementing improvement strategies & projects.
  • Competent authority interaction & relationship management.
  • Monitoring initiatives & compliance with company & legislative requirements delivering governance.
  • Plant SHEQ systems & procedures on a COMAH site.
  • Manage plant budgets & systems reducing costs when possible.

Hours of work – Days. Additional hours are in line with business requirements. Prepared to travel / stay overnight, to complete responsibilities. Considers & contributions to secondments & business projects. Member of the Site duty rota.
