As a Legal Counsel you will be responsible for supporting our legal team particularly in the areas of conducting research, reviewing documentation, contracts, engagement terms, analysing complex legal information and summarising findings in clear, concise reports. This role is instrumental in allowing the Legal team and Xapo to make informed decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth legal research on a wide range of legal topics and areas of law.
- Review legal documentation and information relevant to the Financial Services, Fintech, and Blockchain spaces.
- Assessing and implementing standards relating to the consumer duty principle, financial promotion rules, and reviewing and assessing client facing communications.
- Dealing with any issues that arise from a members’ perspective.
- Analyse this information and provide concise reports based on findings.
- Provide recommendations and sound legal advice based on research findings.
Skills needed:
- Experience: 5+ years PQE within the Financial Services (primarily banking, payments and DLT) industry, with a Fintech and Blockchain focus ideally.
- Qualification: UK qualified lawyer or equivalent but with practice and experience in the UK or Gibraltar.
- Skills: Demonstrated analytical and research abilities. The capacity to analyse complex legal issues and conduct thorough legal research is crucial.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to find creative solutions to complex legal problems.
- Attention to Detail: A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Technological Proficiency: Familiarity with various technologies and infrastructure.
- Project Management: Ability to lead a project, interact across product, risk, finance and other teams within the group.
