Product designers at Checkout.com craft world-class financial products and payment experiences that are intuitive, empowering, and grounded in user needs. You’ll be an integral part of the product development process, shaping ideas, designing end-to-end flows, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver elegant solutions that drive impact for our merchants. At Checkout.com, you’ll design tools that power critical payment operations for businesses of all sizes, from fast-scaling startups to global enterprises.
As a design team, we aim to set a new standard for enterprise UX by combining deep customer insight with exceptional craft. You’ll report to the Product Design Director within the Merchant Services pillar and work closely with peers across Product, Engineering and Research. As part of a fast-moving team, we’re looking for a self-driven individual who can take ownership of scoped product areas and deliver high-quality design work with clarity and focus. You’ll help us raise the bar for design craft while contributing to a thoughtful and inclusive team culture.
The team: We are more than 30 people across Product Design, UX Research, Content Design, and Design Operations. We operate in a hybrid working model, with three days in the office per week.
Roles and responsibilities
- Works independently across project phases, consistently delivering user-centred solutions with reliability and focus.
- Drive product design through the full lifecycle, from understanding customer needs, defining problems, exploring solutions, to delivering high-quality visual and interaction designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional peers to build a shared understanding of goals, context, and product vision.
- Contribute to the development of the team’s design direction and elevate the overall design quality within your product space.
- Communicate the end-to-end user experience clearly with cross-functional teams and advocate for design decisions using data and customer knowledge.
- Leverage appropriate tools and prototyping methods to explore and validate ideas effectively.
- Deliver production-ready design specs and documentation that align with system patterns and product constraints.
- Manage project scope, timelines, and delivery expectations by breaking work down into tasks, revisiting priorities and trade-offs when necessary.
- Actively participate in design critiques, retrospectives, and feedback sessions to improve your own work and support your peers.
- Maintain clear and inclusive documentation so others can understand and build upon your work.
- Build strong working relationships across disciplines and help align your team around shared goals and priorities.
- Support and contribute to the team’s inclusive and collaborative culture by role modelling Checkout.com’s values.
Qualifications
- Experience designing end-to-end flows and shipping features in a collaborative, agile environment.
- Solid proficiency across core areas of product design: interaction design, visual design, and product thinking.
- Ability to solve design challenges with user needs and business constraints in mind.
- Comfortable presenting and explaining design rationale to peers and cross-functional partners.
- Demonstrates good judgement in choosing appropriate fidelity and tools to explore and communicate ideas.
- Self-motivated, able to manage time and expectations across multiple initiatives.
- Strong communication skills and openness to feedback.
- Contributes to inclusive design practices and champions a fair, supportive workplace.
