A vacancy has arisen for a Transport Planner based at our Daventry Operation
The purpose of the Transport Planner is to plan and manage own fleet vehicles, within carefully defined transport budgetss, as well as liaising with 3rd Party Hauliers.
The successful candidate will be required to deliver excellent customer service and strive towards transport cost saving initiatives, develop upon current external sub-contraction network, and promote a health and safety culture with the intention of achieving a zero harm workplace for both internal and external drivers.
Key accountabilities of the Transport Planner include:
1. Manage drivers & subcontractors remotely.
a. Produce and deliver a daily plan.
b. Review and develop the sub-contractor base.
2. Liaison with depot operations management.
3. Assist with other day-to-day operational duties and problem solving.
4. Provide a high level of service to ensure that orders are fulfilled and that customer complaints are minimised, but are professionally resolved if they arise.
5. Reporting to the Transport and Office Managers.
6. Perform such other duties as the Company may from time to time reasonably require.
7. Comply with all Company policies related to Code of Conduct, Environmental, Health and Safety and Community.
Applicants should have experience of Transport Planning, preferably within the waste industry and/or an understanding on bulk transport. It is important to have a strong UK Geographical knowledge with excellent PC skills including Microsoft Excel. Having experience of providing transport quotations, experience of KPI reporting, and financial knowledge in costings is important. A high level of attention to detail and strong written & verbal communication is critical.
