The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Room (ER) provides critical care to patients in urgent or emergent conditions. The RN works in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, delivering immediate care to patients suffering from injuries, illnesses, or trauma.
Key Responsibilities
- Triage and Patient Assessment: Perform initial assessments, triage based on severity, evaluate history, conduct physical assessments, and collect vital signs.
- Emergency Care and Treatment: Administer medications, perform wound care, provide emergency interventions including CPR and ACLS, assist in resuscitation efforts.
- Collaboration with Medical Team: Work with physicians and staff to develop care plans, assist with diagnostics, communicate effectively.
- Monitoring and Documentation: Monitor patient conditions, document assessments and treatments accurately, ensure compliance with standards.
- Patient and Family Communication: Explain diagnoses and procedures, provide emotional support, advocate for patient needs.
- Infection Control and Safety: Follow infection protocols, maintain a safe environment, respond to biohazard situations.
