We are seeking a Technical Operations Lead to join Leidos UK within the Defence Team, based in Herefordshire. In response to the success of our growing business, Leidos requires an experienced 3rd Line Engineer to lead a small team supporting the implementation of a new service tool into business operations.
Responsibilities
- The Technical Operations Lead (TOL) will be the senior technical resource, leading a development team and acting as the first point of escalation for 3rd line issues.
- The candidate should possess a broad knowledge base, ensuring technical standards and best practices are followed.
- The TOL will manage team workloads, facilitate stand-ups, and take charge during critical issues or management tasks.
- Key technical knowledge includes MS System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM)/Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), Microsoft Windows Server (including AD, DNS, DHCP), virtualization (Hyper-V), Microsoft Stack Technologies (SharePoint, SQL Server, Skype for Business/Teams), networking, and storage solutions.
- The role involves delivering a new service tool, providing on-site support, and possibly out-of-hours support.
- It is a full-time, in-office position.
- The TOL will also contribute to technical documentation and support project or operational activities.
Candidate Profile
- We prefer candidates with operational support services experience, team lead or Scrum Master background, and the ability to work autonomously to meet project and operational goals.
- Effective communication skills, analytical thinking, and a systematic approach to technical challenges are essential.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of MS SCCM/MECM
- Experience with VMware and Hyper-V
- Extensive experience with Windows Server environments (2003-2019), including AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO
- Understanding of TCP/IP, networking, load balancing, firewalls
- Familiarity with Microsoft technologies (SharePoint, Skype for Business/Teams, MS SQL, Office365, MS Exchange, PowerShell)
- Knowledge of SAN storage technologies
- Strong communication, analysis, and problem-solving skills
- Experience in technical documentation and team leadership
- Project management awareness, including scope and scope creep management
- Knowledge of ServiceNow is desirable
