Eaton's Aerospace business in Titchfield is recognized as an industry leader in aerospace fuel systems and a premier supplier of fully integrated fuel systems for fixed and rotary wing aircraft. The site offers extensive fuel and air system test facilities, allowing either complete aircraft fuel & inerting systems or components to be tested over a wide range of altitudes and temperatures with differing fuel types.
We’re now looking for a Senior Chemist, responsible to the Laboratory Supervisor for the chemical functions carried out by the Chemical and Materials Laboratory at the plant.
What you’ll do:
- Responsible to the Laboratory Supervisor for the chemical functions carried out by the Chemical and Materials Laboratory at Titchfield.
- Analysis of the contents of the metal finishing Vats and conduct periodic and lot (ID) testing of treated samples for corrosion and coating weight specifications.
- Ensure that the Effluent Plant is operated correctly and that discharges are within environmental consent limits to meet legal requirements.
- Provide analysis of oils, fuels etc and troubleshoot problems arising from the metal treatment processes.
- Use a variety of analytical techniques to identify metal alloys, and coatings, and identify contaminants to identify root causes of problems.
- Lead the key input into the facilitation of NADCAP Pre-audit and preparation, as well as Audit, for NADCAP requirements including Chemical Management, Welding and Brazing, NDT and Heat treatment.
- Concession sign-offs, mesh Lead – Water Consumption & wastewater recycling/disposal, Chemical Management.
- Raise and support Management Change Orders in support of the Laboratory inputs. Changes due to obsolescence/changes in legislation.
- Use of key lean and problem-solving tools including 5S and Cause and effect, etc.
Qualifications:
- A Level Chemistry and Maths.
- Further Chemistry or Metal Finishing Qualification.
- Theoretical knowledge of the main branches of chemistry.
- Previous experience in laboratory and analytical techniques.
