Your new company: One of the UK's leading contractors operating across a number of sectors including Infrastructure and Build.

Your new role: They are now looking for a Design Manager to oversee the design aspects of tenders and ongoing projects. This position is primarily project and office-based, with flexibility for occasional remote working.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Establish, maintain, and manage effective project design resources and team profiles at bid and delivery stages.
  • Lead and provide a professional, comprehensive, and sustainable design service for customers, key partners, and suppliers at bid and delivery stages.
  • Safely manage and coordinate the overall design process through the RIBA design stages, challenging the brief and bringing innovation and continuous improvement to projects at bid and delivery stages.
  • Ensure completion and compliance with design management departmental procedures at bid and delivery stages.
  • Be involved with the design strategy and approach.
  • Ensure adherence to the design brief/scope of service and develop a comprehensive scope of service for key stages of the project.
  • Programme and manage all design reviews and coordination meetings.
  • Ensure a fully coordinated design strategy is in place and work closely with discipline lead designers to deliver coordinated design solutions.
  • Establish the need for and contribute to design reviews.
  • Ensure that design is developed in line with commercial and construction requirements and the cost plan budget allowances.
