What you'll do:
- Manage goal directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
- Keep patients and family informed regularly and as needed.
- Assess and diagnose patient and family needs in order to provide quality care to assigned patients.
- Develop, discuss and communicate a realistic problem list (plan of care) for each patient, in collaboration with family/significant other in order to address all identified needs.
- Demonstrate the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.
- Evaluate the identified problems, care provided and patient’s responses are reassessed in order to meet patient and family needs to assure overall quality of care delivered.
- Maintain up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the health care team, in order to assure quality care.
- Maintain current knowledge/certification/licensure and pursue professional growth and development.
- Function as a role model for current and new staff.
- Perform all responsibilities required by the emergency unit/critical care division as defined in the scope of service, to assure that the unique nature of the client is addressed.
- Utilize and follow national patient safety standards and develop practice standards that are evidence based.
What we need from you:
- Education: 2 year / Associate Degree in Nursing, required; 4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred.
- Experience: Minimum one year hospital medical/surgical experience, required; Critical care nursing experience, preferred.
- License/Certification: Valid NYS Registered Nurse license, required; BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications within 6 months from date of hire, required; TNCC certification within 1 year of date of hire, preferred; ENPC and SANE certifications, preferred.

- Physical Requirements: Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Occasional climbing, crouching, kneeling, and stooping. Frequent typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, hearing, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, talking, walking, and visual acuity (color, depth, perception).
- Hazards: Occasional chemical, explosives, mechanical, and radiation/radiant energy; Frequent bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure.
- Working Conditions: Occasional odors.
