This role is part of the Lower Thames Crossing – Skanska Kent Roads Project. The Lower Thames Crossing is a major infrastructure programme, with three main works contracts: North Roads, Tunnels, and Kent Roads. This new crossing will alleviate congestion on the Dartford Crossing and support economic growth in Britain. The project involves a connection between the A2 and M2 in Kent, under the River Thames through two bored tunnels, connecting to the M25 south of Junction 29. Skanska is delivering the Kent Roads Contract, which includes upgrading sections of the A2/M2, managing complex utility diversions, bridge & retaining wall structures, bridge demolition and reconstruction, new access roads, major earthworks, and constructing site compounds. What you\’ll do: Support the LTC Kent Roads Delivery Team in coordinating across all technical work streams throughout the project\’s stages, leading up to construction. These work streams include engineering disciplines, design management, digital engineering, sustainability, engineering surveying, asset management, and industrialisation. Lead on engineering surveying requirements within the project. Ensure your team possesses the necessary training and knowledge to work safely. Set out the works per contract requirements before the start of work. Lead, develop, and manage engineering survey teams to meet project needs. Ensure the project has an appropriate survey control network to meet construction requirements. Provide expert advice and guidance to the engineering survey team members and other parts of the business, promoting best practices in engineering surveying and geospatial work. Carry out topographical surveys for engineering works on site, manage setting out, reports, measurements, and final survey data. Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure sufficient and accurate information is available to set out the works according to the programme, resolving any inconsistencies and providing feedback on changes made. Take responsibility for the flow of survey data between the Kent Roads Delivery Team and the design partner, covering topographical surveys, drainage/CCTV, ground investigation, instrumentation & monitoring data. What you\’ll bring to the role: Degree in Land Surveying or Engineering Surveying (desirable), or ONC/B Tec in Land Surveying or Engineering Surveying with senior-level surveying working history. Extensive knowledge of relevant survey instruments, engineering survey software, and work methods. In-depth understanding of construction survey techniques and best practices. Proven ability to manage instrumentation & monitoring data and reporting. Background in highways infrastructure projects with specific responsibilities. Full professional membership of CICES or equivalent body (desirable). Strong leadership skills and commercial awareness. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, document control systems, and Primavera software. Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management. Understanding of project carbon, environmental, and sustainability policies, processes, and statutory requirements, ensuring adherence within your discipline.
