We are seeking an experienced Veritas System Administrator. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional with hands-on engineering and testing experience in virtualized environments. This role requires a skilled technician with expertise in infrastructure automation, network operations, DevOps pipelines, and commercial cloud environments.
Responsibilities:
- Operate, maintain, and manage the Veritas NetBackup application across multiple environments.
- Ensure compliance with DoD Cybersecurity standards through patching and configuration using DISA STIGs.
- Provide technical input and complete development, deployment, and configuration tasks for the operational environment.
- Monitor backup jobs across multiple platforms and perform periodic disaster recovery scenarios.
- Maintain backup policies, standards, and equipment, including servers and disk storage devices.
- Manage and execute complex database backups, particularly in SQL and Oracle environments.
- Create and maintain documentation and follow ITIL and industry best practices for Change Management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 8-12 years of system administration experience (additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
- IAT II Baseline Certification (e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP).
- Active DoD TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain CI/POLY.
- 5+ years’ experience with Veritas NetBackup 8.x or greater.
- 5+ years’ experience with MS-Windows, Solaris, and RHEL/OEL Linux environments.
- 2+ years’ experience with VMware 7.x or greater.
- 2+ years’ experience with IP-based network communication.
- Experience with Windows Server 2019, RedHat Enterprise Linux 7 and higher.
- Proficiency in Windows PowerShell and Bash shell scripting.
- Experience with NetBackup data protection and VMware Backup.
- Strong CLI skills and understanding of TCP/IP communications.
- Excellent documentation skills and a collaborative team player.
