Salary: £40,600 – £43,700 (depending on experience) + 6% performance bonus | Working location: Coalville and Surrounding Area / Field Based | Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent
Job Summary
As a Building Inspector, you will be a key member of our inspection service team, collaborating with registered builders to ensure homes meet NHBC Standards and Building Regulations and to support continuous improvement under your guidance. You will focus on delivering high-quality customer service and helping to manage insurance risk while supporting the construction of excellent homes for new home buyers.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Based from home but out and about daily, work with registered builders to ensure new homes meet NHBC Standards, Building Regulations and other relevant legislation.
- Build excellent working relationships with site managers to identify and prevent construction defects.
- Help manage insurance risk and contribute to the delivery of high-quality homes for buyers.
- Receive full training and ongoing support from your line manager and wider team.
- Maintain control of your diary and have autonomy to perform tasks as you see fit.
- Work days start when you leave home; no weekend work required to support work/life balance.
What We Are Looking For
- Significant and relevant house-building or construction experience.
- Ability to listen, build rapport, establish credibility, and develop effective working relationships.
- Ability to influence, manage disagreements assertively while maintaining relationships.
- Ability to gather and analyse information to support decision making.
- Ability to describe the house building process and how trades interact.
- This is a physically demanding role requiring visits to construction sites and inspection of buildings throughout the build process, including working at height.
- Keen interest in learning and keeping up to date with industry improvements, building standards and developments.
- Focus on customer satisfaction and delivering a quality service to agreed standards.
Education And Qualifications
- Construction-related qualification such as City and Guilds, HNC, HND or NVQ (or equivalent) is preferred or you may be working towards one.
- A valid full driving licence is required.
NHBC Building Safety Regulator Framework
NHBC provides professional support for technical staff requiring registration with the Building Safety Regulator, including training and development for third-party accredited assessment schemes. NHBC may fund assessment schemes and registration with the Building Safety Regulator.
