Freightliner is the UK\’s largest maritime intermodal logistics operator, transporting containers from all major deep-sea ports to our national network of inland terminals, as well as a leading operator in the UK Heavy Haul rail freight market. Freightliner has operations across Europe offering both Intermodal and Heavy Haul rail freight services seamlessly connecting European countries and the UK. In the UK the Freightliner Group operates under a number of legal entities including Freightliner Group Ltd, Freightliner Heavy Haul Ltd, Freightliner Ltd, Pentalver Transport Ltd, and Pentalver Cannock Ltd. Purpose of the Role: Responsible for winning new business and achieving volume and revenue targets. Proactively developing a strong new business pipeline to ensure there are always sufficient active prospects to achieve set targets. Main duties and responsibilities: Develop and execute a sales plan to meet and exceed volume and revenue budget. Proactively develop a new business pipeline to ensure there is a sufficient number of active prospects to generate enough new business within the financial year to achieve set targets. Follow and further develop a new business sales process to ensure key steps within the process are followed in order to increase our win rate probability. Ensure that all pricing is profitable and maximised, working with the commercial team to provide clear pricing visibility and understanding of every deal. Identify any market demand capability gaps that are preventing us from winning more new business and communicate with the commercial team to ensure these market needs are understood and appropriately actioned. Use CRM system to ensure that data is captured and KPIs are produced to measure effectiveness. Ensure strong and collaborative relationships with the operational team to achieve excellent customer service. Ensure all new business prospects are communicated to the operational team to assess our capability and capacity to deliver the opportunities. Represent G&W at relevant external events. The above list is not exhaustive. Key job requirements: Educated to degree level or equivalent. New business experience, ideally within the transport or supply chain industry. Strong leadership skills with the ability to clearly communicate internally and externally. Financially literate with demonstrable experience in optimising price. Agility to respond to day to day commercial challenges and changes. Effective prospect interaction and communication. Experience of working closely with commercial and operational teams and achieving effective collaboration. Experience with best practice new business sales processes.
