Mechanical Engineers can work on everything from the individual components of a device, to large scale machinery, complete industrial plants, or a corporate vehicle fleet. Mechanical Engineers are often sought after in almost every industry in some form. General responsibilities tend to include:

Design and implement products and solutions based on the relevant business field
Develop and integrate new technology and tools in an efficient way
Monitor and improve production processes
Work with subcontractors, customers, manufacturing departments to identify and resolve complex problems
Manage projects as required
Design production processes
Design and implement modifications to prototype products
Monitor and commission new systems
Design and develop new designs
Manage costs for new products, process, and modifications

To be successful as a Mechanical Engineer, the following skills, qualifications, and qualities are useful:

Degree in a relevant engineering field (agricultural engineering, mechanical engineering, for example)
Postgraduate qualification in a relevant or supporting field
Engineering Council accredited qualifications
