Due to a recently awarded significant tender in the rail sector, a fantastic opportunity has become available for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work with a major multi-disciplined contractor in Kent. The Senior QS will form part of a new team at the beginning of a five-year framework allowing the successful candidate to help deliver a range of exciting projects from inception to completion. Schemes are a mixture of civil engineering, earthworks and new rail station construction projects that will be administered under NEC 4 terms and conditions. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will lead the commercial management of a portfolio of projects valued at circa £20M-£30M.
The Role
- Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Senior Quantity Surveyor's responsibilities will include:
- Drafting and negotiation of supply chain contracts
- Management of Subcontractors
- Management of allocated Control Accounts with site team including cost/value reconciliations and out-turn forecast & spend profiling
- Keeping costs and records to ensure agreement of Defined Costs with Network Rail Site Representatives
- Utilisation of Site Commercial and Document Systems (Oracle, CEMAR, ProjectWise, Forecasting Tools)
- Providing commercial support to the Procurement process
Experience Required
- Suitable applicants will be educated to BSc Quantity Surveying or similar and will be able to demonstrate no less than 3-4 years of experience operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor level.
- Experience working on civil engineering, earthworks, or utility projects under NEC terms is essential.
- The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of commercial success delivering rail-related civils schemes valued upwards of £10M.
