Role Summary:
The Mechanical/Electrical Estimator will be based out of the North East London office with options for hybrid working. The successful candidate will lead the mechanical or electrical estimating efforts, ensuring accurate and detailed estimates are generated for a wide variety of projects. Key responsibilities will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, liaising with clients, and supporting the company's overall business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Estimate Development: Prepare comprehensive and accurate estimates for mechanical or electrical projects, using in-house estimating software.
- Client Relations & Business Development: Identify and develop new business opportunities and maintain client relationships.
- Team Collaboration: Communicate and coordinate effectively with the estimating team, Buying Department, and operations teams at different project stages.
- Supply Chain Liaison: Dispatch and manage supplier and subcontractor inquiries with a clear technical and contractual framework.
- Commercial & Technical Appraisal: Review and analyze mechanical and electrical quotations to ensure competitive and risk-assessed pricing.
- Design Development & Buildability: Contribute to design development discussions, focusing on cost-effectiveness, materials, and innovation.
- Procurement Planning: Work alongside procurement to determine suppliers, sub-contractors, terms, and discount levels.
- Industry Awareness: Stay up to date with technical advancements and best practices in the industry to enhance project outcomes.
- Risk and Governance: Follow internal procedures, risk, and governance processes, documenting approvals and authorizations where required.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a mechanical or electrical estimating role within the building services industry.
- Strong understanding of mechanical or electrical systems in large-scale projects, especially within commercial and industrial sectors.
- Knowledge of estimating software and proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- Exceptional analytical and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a hybrid work environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a client-focused mindset.
