Portsmouth Music and Arts Center seeks a dedicated music educator and experienced piano teaching artist to recruit and maintain a teaching studio for beginner students ages 5-10. The position will be primarily onsite at our building in Portsmouth, NH, one day per week, with the potential to add additional days. This position begins in fall 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Provide weekly 30, 45, or 60 minute individual lessons to piano students of all levels, but primarily beginning piano for ages 5-10 years old
  • Teach lessons both in person and remotely, using video conferencing software, as needed
  • Passion for teaching early childhood music
  • Effectively administer and manage studio in collaboration with staff and in adherence to school procedures and policies
  • Prepare students for performances each semester
  • Participate in recruitment activities inside and outside of the school
  • Attend faculty meetings several times a year
  • Perform on faculty concerts as a soloist or with other faculty in a chamber music setting

Qualifications

Bachelor of Music in piano performance or music education preferred. Interest in teaching early elementary students is ideal.

The successful candidate for this position will be subject to a pre-employment background check.
