RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the safe operation of the Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Silversea LNG fleet
- Responsible for the development and implementation of all LNG shipboard and shoreside procedures for the LNG Fleet in alignment with RCG.
- Responsible to verify and drive a suitable design and implementation of all related LNG systems on board newbuilds.
- Prime mover in leading various pursuits relative to the SSC Fleet Energy Efficiency and Carbon Emissions reduction.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies including software-tech base solutions to help reduce the SSC Corporate fuel consumption and increase SSC Fleet sustainability.
- Create and maintain short, mid, and long-term strategic plan for IMO environmental regulations pertaining to energy efficiency of existing ships (EEXI), carbon intensity indicator (CII) and overall decarbonization strategy including compliance options i.e. itinerary speed planning, energy saving devices, alternative fuels, GHG abatement technologies etc.
- Responsible for pre-feasibility analysis and creating business cases for the energy retrofits.
- Build objective and robust set of key performance indicators to monitor and identify areas for improvement.
- Follow up on the robust set of key performance indicators to monitor and identify areas for improvement.
- Development of the energy management advisory systems & track the vessels operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with the Marine and Technical Teams energy retrofit investment program to generate annual savings in coordination with both the internal & external stakeholders in SSC and RCG Energy Team.
- Lead the effort to establish an advanced operational data base & analytics in SSC to further improve voyage operational & technical performance.
- Lead qualitative and quantitative analysis related to decarbonization and renewable energy strategy, including financial modelling/analysis around carbon impact, carbon pricing, price forecasting, and project cash flows.
- Direct operational excellence opportunities through data mining & detailed analysis in order to grow revenue and reduce vessel operating costs in SSC yielding yearly fuel savings.
- Facilitate data driven decisions for hull maintenance and coating strategy.
- Create and lead digitalization roadmap including SSC Fleet roll out of Mobile Operations and
- Total Energy Management platform for monitoring real time performance & improving safety, efficiency, and compliance.
- Work with key industry vendors and partners such as Wartsila, ABB, DNV, Lloyd’s Register to monitor the business environment for optimizing fuel expense and develop Long Term Strategic
- Plan scenarios. In this regard, needs to attend industry conferences and develop network to gather business intelligence related to the fleet voyage optimization, the impact of emission regulations, the financial risk market exposure.
- Drive continuous improvement projects and cost improvement opportunities while maintaining positive working relationships with SSC Marine, Technical, Newbuild teams.
- Provide accurate and frequent status reports to executive team on retrofit program execution and on hull coating strategy.
- Create and maintain an energy toolbox/technology garage for further energy efficiency enhancements.
- Embraces diverse people, thinking and styles.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Background as Marine/Industrial/Mechanical Energy Engineer or Naval Architect and experience with a shipping company either on board/on shore or both, classification society and similar.
- Master’s degree in engineering, Naval Architecture or a related engineering field from an accredited college or university. PhD is valued as a point of strength.
- 15+ years of experience in vessel technical operations management/energy management/fleet optimization or related, ability to supervise 1-10 direct reports.
- Strong technical & analytical skills including advanced Excel, PowerPoint. Previous experience with programming.
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively with various departments within the organization, both shipboard and shore side.
- Experience in project management and facilitating cross functional activity.
- Need to possess good skills for financial planning and analysis.
- Strong understanding of ship systems such as HVAC, auxiliary systems, and propulsion.
- Need to possess long-term financial modeling and project/program management skills.
- Understanding of cruise line operations is preferred either in technical, nautical operations or new builds.
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Detailed knowledge of vessel operations and energy management.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for creating and maintaining strategic & financial plan for the fleet retrofit programs. in regard to Energy Efficiency, Decarbonization and Sustainability goals.
- Provide spending variance explanations for significant deviations from the budget in support from finance teams.
