Accountancy Recruit is partnering with a family-run business in the events/publishing sector to recruit a Part-Time Bookkeeper based in Dorking. The role offers approximately 22-23 hours per week, or 29-30 hours, with flexible scheduling over 3 full days or spread across 4-5 days.

The primary purpose of this role is to maintain the company's accounts using Xero, alongside another Bookkeeper, handling daily transactions and month-end close for submission to external accountants.

Responsibilities include:

  • Processing daily multicurrency transactions.
  • Maintaining the Sales Ledger: issuing invoices and statements, resolving customer invoice queries.
  • Performing low-volume credit control to ensure prompt payments.
  • Managing the Purchase Ledger: recording invoices, liaising with suppliers regarding invoicing queries, and ensuring timely payments.
  • Preparing monthly account reconciliations.
  • Conducting bank reconciliations.
  • Closing month-end accounts and reporting on debits and credits (trial balance).
  • Calculating quarterly VAT returns.
  • Arranging bank transfers.
  • Recording and reimbursing staff expenses and mileage claims accurately.

Requirements & Skills:

  • AAT qualification or relevant experience.
  • Experience with Xero is advantageous.
  • Strong bookkeeping skills and understanding of debits and credits.
  • Experience with multicurrency transactions is a plus.

Remuneration & Benefits:

  • Salary: £34,000-£36,000 pro rata.
  • Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays, pro rata.
  • Pension: Auto-enrolment.
  • Office-based 3 days a week; remote working possible if 4 days.
  • Free parking.
