SUMMARY

This role involves obtaining blood samples and other non-blood specimens from patients, delivering samples to the laboratory, and providing factual information about laboratory tests according to standard procedures. Responsibilities may vary based on site needs.

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, HiSET, TASC) from an accredited institution is required. Non-U.S. diplomas deemed equivalent after evaluation are acceptable. CPR and Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification are preferred. Graduation from a phlebotomy technical training program is strongly preferred. BLS certification from the American Heart Association is strongly preferred; ACLS may be required depending on the specialty.

EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of medical terminology gained through previous medical practice experience (up to 1 year) is preferred.

SKILLS

Effective verbal and written communication skills are required. Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service orientation are essential. Proficiency in Lab Information Systems (LIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is preferred.
