Role Summary

Work in partnership with the Tribe’s Product Architects and Core Platform to define software standards that govern how the Tribe’s software is built. Support the Tribe’s squads in delivering to those standards through training, technical surgeries, mentoring, and ad‑hoc support. Ensure the codebase meets the required standards via technical debt backlog items and prioritization with Product Owners, undertake research and proof‑of‑concepts, and provide a leading voice within the Engineering Chapter.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead role and go‑to person for approximately 2–3 squads or a domain impacting many squads.
• Influential leader across multiple squads through formal supervisory responsibility and/or technical authority, challenging mindsets/behaviours when needed.
• Drive positive change within remit and maintain positive interactions across the business and with senior third‑party stakeholders.
• Deliver and evolve a software engineering standard for the Tribe and a strategy for the codebase to meet that standard.
• Ensure Tribe output and codebase are compatible with Core Platform standards.
• Work with Tribe Product Architects to incorporate requirements and vision into the codebase structure and capabilities.
• Maintain a consistent and high‑quality approach to software engineering across all Tribe squads.
• Proactively identify high‑risk PBIs and engage responsible engineers early to increase PR acceptance rates.
• Support Tribe Lead Engineers by resolving blockers and providing guidance for sprint delivery.
• Ensure PR reviews provide requisite level of quality assurance.

Technical Skills

• A technology leader with prior experience empowering and working within a large team of software engineers.
• Experience coaching and mentoring others in personal and professional development.
• Many years of experience working with large, complex codebases.
