About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Architect with a strong background in cloud-native solutions on AWS to join a leading consultancy delivering cutting-edge data platforms for a public sector client. This is a key role where you will lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and cost-effective data architectures in compliance with government standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end data architecture design for cloud-native solutions in AWS.
- Translate business requirements into robust, scalable data platform solutions.
- Design data ingestion, transformation, storage, and access layers using AWS services (e.g., S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda, Athena).
- Define data governance, security, and compliance frameworks aligned with public sector standards (e.g., GDPR, GDS, NCSC).
- Collaborate with stakeholders, engineers, and analysts to ensure effective delivery and integration.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to data engineering teams.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Data Architect, ideally in public sector or highly regulated environments.
- Expert knowledge of AWS cloud-native data services.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, and data integration patterns.
- Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance within government or public-facing services.
- Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable:
- AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty, Solutions Architect).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Knowledge of other cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, GCP) is a bonus.
