A leading provider in the construction materials testing and heavy industry sector is seeking a dynamic Business Unit (BU) Manager to oversee its Doncaster operations. This is a pivotal, hands-on leadership role responsible for driving commercial success, operational efficiency, and transformative growth at a key site. The BU Manager will be fully accountable for site performance, leading operational teams and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee laboratory and field-based operations, ensuring compliance with quality standards and driving productivity improvements.
  • Take full P&L responsibility for the Doncaster site, implementing strategic initiatives to achieve and exceed revenue and budget targets.
  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team, including lab and operations supervisors, to create a supportive, high-performance culture.
  • Champion and manage change initiatives, setting a clear strategic direction for operational improvements and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other business units, acting as a bridge to share best practices and contribute to broader strategic objectives.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven background in materials testing, construction, or similar heavy industry sectors (e.g., logistics, aggregates, tarmac), with strong commercial and operational management experience.

  • Hands-on approach, comfortable working on-site and directly engaging with operational teams to ensure high standards.
