Who We Are: In our Respiratory Therapy department, we are committed to transforming lives through personalized care, cutting-edge techniques, and a patient-centered approach. Our state-of-the-art facility is equipped with the latest technology and resources to empower our technologists to provide the best care possible. The Respiratory Therapy Unit consists of 29 employees that provide 24/7 coverage to a patient population that ranges from Adult, Pediatric, and Infant. The unit is home to a Level 3 Neonatal team. Shifts are generally 12 hours.
About the Job: Provides a wide range of respiratory care services to patients, ranging from infants to geriatric age groups, as directed by physician’s orders in all settings. This individual works independently as a licensed clinician.
What You’ll Do:
- Manages aerosolized medication, chest physiotherapy, airway clearance techniques, and hyperinflation therapy upon physician orders/protocols.
- Administers oxygen and participates in patient care decisions regarding oxygen administration, utilizing respiratory assessment skills and lab results.
- Draws, analyzes, and interprets arterial blood gases.
- Contributes to patient education and evaluation.
- Assesses patient’s vital signs, breath sounds, patient history, etc.
- Participates as a member of the Trauma/Code 9, Critical Assessment and Critical Care Transport Teams.
- Performs CPR and airway management.
- Assists physician with fiberoptic bronchoscopy.
- Initiates and changes invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation according to protocol in physician’s absence.
- Changes ventilator setting according to protocol and/or physician order.
- Conducts apnea tests for determination of brain death.
Who You Are: Minimum of Associates Degree required and passed CRT or RRT exam. State of New Hampshire Respiratory Care practitioner license required at date of hire. BLS certification required within 90 days from date of hire. ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire. Registered Respiratory Therapy credential preferred. NBRC RRT-ACCS credential preferred. One-year clinical experience preferred. Trained and competent to perform all necessary procedures on a population of Newborn, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric patients.
