The Charge Technologist provides leadership, direction and technical expertise to the Medical Imaging staff. The Charge Technologist performs all the duties of a Medical Radiation Technologist in addition to providing ECG & Holter Monitor services to Emergency patients, Outpatients, and Inpatients. They are responsible for specified administrative duties, staff scheduling, maintaining equipment and ensuring that all work of assigned staff meets accuracy and reliability standards/requirements; ensuring quality patient care is provided through coordination of staffing and material resources.
The Charge Technologist is responsible to provide and maintain accurate records (including QC logs, service reports, etc.) and ensuring equipment is in optimal working condition for high quality imaging and to meet the regulated requirements according to the Ministry & vendor specification. They must be knowledgeable and practice in accordance with the AC Diagnostics ISO Standards, the College of Medical Radiation Technologists, the Health Professional Acts and Hospital regulations and standards. The Charge Technologist works within their scope of professional practice to perform Medical Imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis, treatment & prevention of disease.
Active participation and collaboration with peers through attendance of the Medical Imaging and Cardiology Leadership Team is required. This collaboration, including all peripheral sites and the Owen Sound site, produces a corporate standard for all function and accreditation activities. The Charge Technologist functions as a subject matter expert to staff within the MI department and promotes communication and teamwork internally and interdepartmentally.
Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:
- Required Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Medical Radiation Technologist
- Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation & Imaging Technologists of Ontario in Radiology
- Current Professional Liability Insurance
- Working knowledge of the Standards of Practice of the College of Medical Radiation Technologists and the Health Professionals Act
- Maintain competence in all functions of the department
- Current technical experience with Digital Radiology equipment (portable and stationary)
- IV Certification course, or equivalent
- Current technical experience in CT
- Able to perform ECG’s and Holter Monitor examinations; certification or eligible for certification in ECG’s preferred
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve, decision making and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
