We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our International General Accounting team in Glasgow. This permanent position reports to the Assistant Accounting Manager and plays a crucial role in the Management Accounting function, primarily supporting our Artex division. As a Senior Accountant, you will ensure the accurate and timely preparation of monthly Management Accounts and contribute to process improvements and wider team development. This role offers the opportunity to lead and mentor up to three part-qualified Accountants, contributing to a wider team of 8.
How you'll make an impact:
- Ensure timely and accurate production of management accounts and commentary for Gallagher Finance.
- Coordinate with regional finance teams in Europe and North America for results and reporting.
- Verify management account accuracy through reconciliations and conduct P&L variance analysis.
- Compile and review monthly reporting packs and generate ad hoc reports as required.
- Maintain and reconcile the local general ledger with the group ledger.
- Provide support for external and internal audit inquiries.
- Oversee internal overhead allocations for Artex Europe, ensuring precise cost capture and allocation.
- Lead and mentor up to 3 part-qualified Accountants, collaborating with local and global accounting teams.
- Manage month-end journal postings and balance sheet reconciliations with our processing team.
- Address queries from Finance Business Partners and other departments.
- Foster relationships within the Glasgow Global Accounting Centre and Artex finance teams.
- Champion departmental improvements and change initiatives.
- Allocate tasks efficiently to team members, ensuring adherence to deadlines and priorities.
About You:
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CA/CIMA or equivalent).
- Previous experience with US GAAP is desirable.
- Understanding of SoX and regulatory/control frameworks is advantageous.
- Ability to adapt to change and work confidently and autonomously.
- Strong investigative and problem-solving skills.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
