Technical Wastewater Engineer

We\’re seeking a skilled and passionate Technical Wastewater Specialist to drive the development of our solutions for PR29 and AMP9.

What you\’ll do

This is an opportunity to join Wessex Water at a time of unprecedented change for the company and sector, with the potential for you to make a significant impact. Our investment plan proposes doubling investment over the next five years, with a large focus on wastewater.

As a Technical Wastewater Specialist, you will play a key role in shaping our future investments, including solutions used in our wastewater and environmental programmes during AMP9. You will have a variety of responsibilities and the opportunity to influence strategic plans and the future of the water industry.

You should be able to balance big-picture thinking with attention to detail, collaborating with colleagues to ensure alignment with strategies such as the Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan (DWMP), Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP), and Long-Term Delivery Strategy (LTDS).

What you\’ll need

You should be technically skilled, questioning usual processes to ensure optimal solutions for customers and the environment. This role suits someone experienced in designing wastewater solutions who can articulate their strategic importance.

You will need:

• Degree qualification or equivalent, preferably a chartered engineer or similar certification
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective teamwork at all levels
• Expertise in wastewater treatment processes
• Knowledge of relevant financial and environmental regulatory frameworks
• An understanding of wastewater operations and investment costs
• Experience in asset management as applied to wastewater treatment
