Mechanical Engineer

Our clients based close to Fareham have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join their growing Engineering team. They are seeking an experienced engineer, with a passion for mechanical design and projects!

Responsibilities

Preparation of project plans with associated budget, resource requirements and schedule as required.

Working closely with cross-functional business teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to cost constraints.

Management of a mix of multi-project portfolio ranging from short duration express projects and more complex longer duration engineering projects.

Management of projects through their lifespan in line with best practice project management processes.

Liaison with all relevant internal and external stakeholders to manage expectations and communicate status.

Negotiation and capture of project technical and cost variations whether arising from the customers requirements or internally originated.

Management of project requirement changes and scope creep with customer approval received for change management and invoicing accurately and on time.

Creation and management of project related documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Ensure designs and products meet codes of practice and recognised standards applicable to the company and/or the customer.

Apply due diligence and make best efforts to comply with regulatory requirements and/or identify risks if compliance requirements cannot be met.

Provide information in a timely manner to support pre-sales bid work including concept designs.

Work with purchasing and suppliers to select parts, obtain quotes and prepare specifications.

Work collaboratively with the engineering teams and production to document, build and verify prototype parts and when needed train build operators.

Make sure product can be made reliably and will perform consistently in the specified operating environments

Define critical dimensions for measurement and assessment by incoming inspection

Required Skills & Experience

• 2+ years in a similar Mechanical Design Engineering position
• Experience with Solidworks or similar design software
• Experience designing enclosures or similar product would be desirable
• Relevant engineering qualification

37.5 hour working week Monday Friday
