EDM Applications Engineer

Join NCMT as an EDM Applications Engineer – Shape Advanced Machining Solutions

Are you passionate about engineering precision and delivering real-world results? We are looking for an Applications Engineer to join our EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) team at NCMT.

This is a customer-facing, technically varied role where you will be involved in both pre- and post-sales activities—ranging from time studies and machining demonstrations to delivering full turnkey packages, training and on-site support.

NCMT is proud to represent leading Japanese machine tool manufacturers such as Makino and Okuma. As part of our team, you will be based primarily at our Technical Centre in Coventry, with travel across the UK, Europe, and occasionally further afield.

What you’ll be doing:

• Delivering turnkey EDM solutions to customers
• Developing machining strategies and CNC programmes
• Conducting customer training on machine operation, programming, and maintenance
• Supporting the sales team with technical proposals and time studies
• Running test cuts, demos, and exhibitions in our Coventry showroom
• Travelling to customer sites and trade shows when required

What we’re looking for:

• Hands-on experience in EDM applications or high-precision machining
• Confidence working independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• A passion for solving complex engineering challenges
• Willingness to travel nationally and occasionally internationally
