The predicted salary is between 48000 - 72000 £ per year.

We are seeking an experienced Underwriter to help develop the companies Construction portfolio. They will have new business and renewal authority and support the Line of Business Head to build a balanced & profitable portfolio with overall aim of achieving a 12% ROC across the cycle.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Underwrite new and renewal business in accordance with underwriting guidelines and personal underwriting authority.
  • Manage Delegated Underwriting Authority relationships.
  • Provide input to help LOB Head develop and periodically update department underwriting guidelines.
  • Provide input to help Actuarial department develop and update pricing models and monitor portfolio rate adequacy and movement.
  • Assist in the data input and monitoring of risk accumulation / aggregation and natural catastrophe exposure across the Line of Business.
  • Assist in the training and development of other members of the Construction team providing expertise and guidance.
  • Support wider Marine, Energy & Construction team in developing knowledge and products in the energy transition space.
  • Review, agree and help develop policy clauses and wordings.
  • General duties associated with day to day underwriting operations both internally and externally, e.g. internal Peer Review; and attending the Lloyds box when necessary.
  • Provide assistance and input in the annual business planning process, reinsurance renewal and line of business review process as may be required.
  • Preparation and presentation of underwriting data, requested by your manager or other members of senior management as may be required.
  • Attend meetings – both in London and overseas – with the company’s clients, prospective clients and brokers and help to increase Arch International Construction department’s profile.
  • Market Arch products and proactively manage broker relationships.
  • Stay abreast of industry topics and changes in legislation impacting the line of business.

Qualifications

  • University degree – preferred but not essential. If not, good A-Level qualifications
  • ACII – preferred or working towards

  • >10 years in the Construction Insurance Industry
