Lusona is delighted to be retained by our client in the property sector to source suitable applicants for this newly created role in their finance team. As Senior Group Accountant, you will lead the Finance team and ensure that the organisation meets all statutory and fiscal financial requirements as well as delivering the internal financial services to the wider organisation.

As a senior member of the team, you will support the Finance Director and wider Group Board in deploying strategies to achieve business plans set. You will have the opportunity to challenge and contribute to strategic planning and business decision making. You will be responsible for leading the production of accurate and reliable financial and management information within the required deadlines. Critical to your role will be ensuring the integrity of systems utilised and ensuring the existence of a robust control environment where all processes and procedures are efficient, effective, and fit for purpose.

The key duties will include:

  • Development of the financial reporting capabilities within the team and implement automation within the new ERP system for statutory, management & dashboard reporting.
  • Leading the audit through to completion of statutory consolidated accounts and provide financial information for shareholders.
  • Leading the budgeting process, aligning the current budget model to the new organisational structure and divisions & work with all areas of the business on budget preparation.
  • Ensuring the organisation is fully compliant with all current statutory and fiscal regulations.
  • Leading the technical aspect of company acquisitions and joint ventures and ensure they are accounted for in accordance with accounting policy.
  • Leading, developing, and coaching the Finance team ensuring pathways exist for each team member to progress.
  • Ensuring delivery of all reporting requirements within the required deadlines of the reporting cycle.
  • Taking lead on all fronts with all key advisors and stakeholders establishing productive relationships from the outset (external auditors; tax; insurers; lenders; pension providers; lawyers).
  • Driving the β€œvalue add” initiatives within the Finance department such as evolution of the information systems and reporting processes.
  • Reviewing and evolving the format of all financial reporting templates.

To be considered, you must have the following qualifications and skills:

  • A professional qualification is essential, and you will ideally be ICAS Qualified and trained within a Big Four Firm with strong technical skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills and drive to manage the team and non-finance department colleagues to generate reliable and accurate financial and management information within the required timelines.
  • Good interpersonal skills to build relations throughout the business and confidence to challenge budgets/results and actions of non-finance colleagues.
  • Experience in the real estate sector would be beneficial, but this is not essential.
