Study Skills Lecturer – Leeds role at GBS.

Department: Academic/Bath Spa University (BSU), University of Suffolk (UoS), Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU), Oxford Brooks University (OBU) and/or Pearson partnerships.

Location: Leeds (On‑Site).

Salary: ÂŁ51,000.

Type of Contract: Full‑Time, Permanent (40 hours per week).

About the role

We are seeking full‑time Study Skills Lecturers who will collaborate closely with subject lecturers to develop and teach study skills across our Higher Education partnerships. You will design resources, deliver teaching, provide feedback, and support student learning with the aim of enhancing the overall student experience. Flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings, and weekends is required.

What You\’ll Be Doing

  • Design and document bespoke courses, digital resources, workshop plans and individual schemes of work to embed study skills in the curriculum.
  • Deliver and evaluate teaching, identifying opportunities for improvement to enhance the quality of learning and the overall student experience in line with GBS’s Learning and Teaching strategy.
  • Provide feedback on individual and class progress in academic writing and other relevant study skills.
  • Offer tutorial consultations, giving constructive feedback, explaining where work fails to meet assessment criteria, and suggesting ways to improve.
  • Record details from these appointments for statistical, evaluation and quality purposes, and refer students to other services as appropriate.
  • Engage with VLE and research resources, facilitating students’ learning through online activities.
  • Contribute to GBS quality assurance systems and processes.

About You

  • Hold a Master’s degree in a relevant subject (PhD desirable).
  • Have UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area.
  • Have a proven track record of teaching adult learners from diverse backgrounds on HE programmes.
  • Have experience delivering individual and group study‑skills support in response to identified learning needs.
  • Be willing to lead a specific area of literacy development (e.g., reading, writing, critical thinking, numeracy, digital skills, research skills, dissertation or peer‑assisted learning).
  • Demonstrate a high level of digital literacy and advanced communication skills.

Desirable

  • Expertise in digital educational resource development, course design and curriculum development.
  • DELTA qualification.
  • A Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during probation and complete within three years), or Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
