The FSA is a non-ministerial department with over 1600 employees, playing a critical role in protecting public health and consumers’ interests in food across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Our vision is to deliver “food you can trust” and work towards a healthier, more sustainable food system. As an Advisory Committee Secretariat Support, you will support the independent Science Advisory Committees (SACs) advising the Agency on food safety risks. Your responsibilities include organising and supporting meetings (both in-person and virtual), managing SAC finances, and maintaining online presence. You will collaborate with stakeholders such as scientists, committee members, FSA colleagues, and government officials. Key duties involve supporting the SAC Secretariat, managing budgets, and coordinating approximately six meetings annually. You will also assist the Chief Scientific Adviser, contribute to the Annual Report, and help implement governance processes like self-assessments and interests management. Working with science colleagues, you will identify and apply best practices and drive continuous improvements. This role requires strong organisational and communication skills, adaptability, and self-motivation.
