Position: CNC Programmer and Machinist

FLSA Exemption: Non-Exempt

Location: Innovent, Wakefield, MA

Status: Full-time

Innovent is seeking a talented CNC Programmer/Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have exceptional technical ability in CNC programming and machining. Responsibilities include day-to-day programming, operating, and troubleshooting of 2 milling and 2 wire EDM machines.

What You Will Do:

  1. Review drawings and specifications, determine cutting methods, tools, materials, and production sequences.
  2. Generate cutting programs from CAD files supplied by engineering.
  3. Optimize cycle times and setup efficiency through problem-solving and decision-making.
  4. Perform machining, monitor production, and verify finished parts against drawings using calibrated tools.
  5. Collaborate with engineering on design for manufacturing.
  6. Stay updated on machining technology, learn new techniques, and operate new machines and software.
  7. Work collaboratively with tooling, inspection, production, and assembly teams.
  8. Maintain and troubleshoot machines, ensuring safe operation.
  9. Inspect quality of work and ensure safety compliance, including PPE usage.
  10. Maintain clean work areas and perform other duties such as assembly, maintenance, and tooling as skills permit.
  11. Assist machine operators with problem-solving, adjustments, and setups.
  12. Ensure CNC production performance and help organize scheduling with management.

What You’ll Bring:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • 3+ years’ experience in machining, CAM programming, and troubleshooting.
  • 1+ years’ experience with MasterCam or willingness to learn.
  • Trade school certificate or degree in CNC machining and programming preferred.
