The role of Estimator sits within the preconstruction estimating team helping us to bid and win projects to deliver. This role has responsibility for securing new business for ODInteriors through driving detailed, specific and thorough responses to tender information.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Driving continuous improvement of our tender processes
- Coordinating and preparing for pre, mid and post tender client meetings, workshops and interviews
- Providing financial estimates of commercial fitting out and refurbishment projects for enquiries up to £50 million in value and via all procurement routes
- Developing conceptual budgets from client brief and tender drawings
- Identifying risks and opportunities within the tender information and potential projects
- Developing detailed contract sum analyses from conceptual budgets by means of competitive sub-contract tendering, estimating and reconciliations
- Analysing and developing all enquiries and providing detailed financial estimates
- Providing all estimates and reports using ODGroup standard formats, and utilising Bidwork, Evaluate and Stratosophere softwares
- Demonstrating a thorough understanding of two-stage, lump sum, design & build procurement routes
- Reviewing subcontract and supplier selection including reporting on quality and response of tender enquiry returns
- Preparing estimate reports to show costs, contingencies, contribution and timescales
- Providing support across the estimating team post-tender to ensure deadlines are met
- Proactively managing subcontractor and supply chain relationships with the commercial teams
- Consistently achieving a seamless handover from the estimating team to the commercial team
- Collaborating with the bid and marketing teams on the development of our documents and collateral, ensuring market-leading creativity and attention to detail
- Maintaining an up-to-date awareness of our competitors and how their activity could impact our tenders
- Tracking win rates, client feedback, and other metrics, in order to drive improvements in our offering and pricing
- Ad hoc support to the rest of the estimating team when workload permits
Skills and experience required:
- Previous experience in a similar role within the construction or fit-out sector
- Deep understanding of the competitive tender process
- Strong commercial acumen and supply chain relationships
- A team player who takes accountability and seeks to drive continuous improvement
