We are seeking a skilled and motivated Level 2 Network Engineer to join our infrastructure team based in London. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in managing enterprise network infrastructure and must hold active Security Clearance (SC) or preferably DV Clearance due to the sensitive nature of the work. You will play a critical role in maintaining network performance, resolving issues, and supporting project implementation in a secure environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Level 2 support for day-to-day operations of network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, VPN, Firewalls, etc.)
- Respond to and resolve incidents, service requests, and escalations within SLA timelines.
- Configure, manage, and monitor network devices (Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, etc.)
- Assist with implementation of new network solutions and improvements.
- Collaborate with Level 3 engineers on complex troubleshooting and upgrades.
- Monitor network performance using tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark).
- Apply change control procedures and ensure compliance with security policies.
- Maintain network documentation, asset records, and diagrams.
- Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours support when required.
- Ensure adherence to cyber security best practices in all network activities.
Required Skills & Experience
- Active SC or DV Clearance (Mandatory)
- 5 years of experience in network operations or support roles.
- Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), VLANs, and subnetting.
- Experience with enterprise-grade firewalls (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet).
- Familiarity with VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL VPN).
- Working knowledge of network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Desirable (Preferred) Skills
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher (e.g., CCNP)
- Experience with SD-WAN, NAC solutions (Cisco ISE), and wireless technologies.
- Exposure to ITIL processes and working in secure government or defence environments.
- Experience with scripting for automation (Python, PowerShell).
