Purpose of Position
This role, reporting directly to the Associate Director of Compliance and Processing, holds a central position in overseeing the preparation, processing, reconciliation, reporting, and maintenance of financial and accounting documentation for federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs.

The incumbent navigates the complexities of compliance, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, and plays a crucial role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records associated with various aid programs.

With a meticulous approach, the individual actively engages in the reconciliation processes, addressing potential discrepancies, contributing to the generation of timely and accurate reports and effectively collaborating with the management team.
Primary Responsibilities
Fiscal Operations Management:
  • Work closely with the Associate Director to oversee fiscal operations of financial aid programs.
  • Manage budgeting, monitoring, reconciling, and reporting federal, state, and institutional financial aid funds, including work-study.
  • Prepare and submit financial aid state, federal, and institutional reports, including FISAP.
  • Coordinate oversight and drawdown of federal funds, reconciling ProSAM systems with Federal COD systems, including SAP.
  • Assist in the Direct Loan Program reconciliation process.
  • Collaborate with the management team and lead in responses to yearly audit findings. Serve as the department expert on matters related to account drawdown of federal and state funds.


Internal Fiscal Audits
:

  • Conduct internal fiscal audits.
  • Provide recommendations to the Office of Financial Assistance management team on detected fiscal issues related to federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies, rules and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding financial aid matters.
  • Analyze financial aid data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
  • Present findings to the management team and contribute to strategic decision-making.


Operational Support, Training and Reporting
:

  • Provide support to operations staff to resolve processing errors.
  • Determine the source of errors and make recommendations for corrections to sub-systems.
  • Train staff by explaining issues and resolutions.
  • Compile and submit other reports/analysis as requested.
  • Analyze financial aid data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
  • Present findings to the management team and contribute to strategic decision-making.
Qualifications
Bachelor\’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and 4 years of related experience. A strong foundation in accounting principles and financial management is crucial for this role.

Proficient in both verbal and written communication.

Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Demonstrated capability to analyze and solve complex problems.
