We are seeking an experienced Middleweight Product Designer to join our team in Birmingham. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Creative Director and the product design team to bring our brand's vision to life, crafting clothing ranges that resonate with our customer personas. The ideal candidate will have a strong design background, a passion for lifestyle interests that align with P&Co’s identity, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Reporting to the Creative Director, you will play a key role in supporting the creative vision for our collections. You will contribute to the visual direction, offering additional ideas and approaches to enhance our product offerings. As P&Co is in a growth phase, this role will be crucial in expanding our men’s, women’s, and goods ranges at the right pace while maintaining our unique DNA, visual identity, and commitment to quality. You must be able to react quickly, multitask, stay up-to-date on design and brand trends, and collaborate seamlessly with team members. This is a position for a quick-thinking creative with excellent organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities- Work with the Creative Director and design team to develop clothing ranges that align with our brand vision and customer personas.
- Take ownership of the product design process from ideation to presentation, including sketching, prototyping, and creating technical specifications.
- Conduct market research and stay up-to-date with industry trends to ensure our products are on-trend and competitive in the marketplace.
- Develop mood boards, trend forecasts and colour palettes to present to the Creative Director to initiate the design of new ranges.
- Ensure all product ideas capture P&Co’s unique DNA and translate into on-brand exciting products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including merchandising, production, and marketing, to ensure products are delivered on time and on budget.
- Develop stronger ways of working across teams to ensure the design and development of products is as efficient as possible.
- Providing mentorship and guidance to junior designers helping to nurture their growth.
- Participate in product development meetings, presenting designs and providing feedback on other team members' work.
- Use data and customer feedback to inform design decisions and make data-driven recommendations for future product development.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field, along with over three years of experience in product design, preferably within the fashion industry. They should possess a strong portfolio that demonstrates a wide range of design skills, including sketching, creating technical specifications, and prototyping. Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities are essential, as this role requires cross-functional teamwork and team management experience. A deep understanding of industry trends and consumer insights is crucial, alongside the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other design software is required, as is a strong attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality products.
