About 9fin

The world's largest asset class, debt, operates with the worst data. Technology has revolutionised equity markets with electronic trading, quant algos and instantaneous news. However, in debt capital markets, the picture is completely different. It still behaves like it's in the 1980s; trillions of dollars of trades are placed over the phone, news is slow, and corporate credit information is imperfect and scattered. Our mission is to change this. 9fin's proprietary technology delivers fast and comprehensive financial, credit, legal & ESG analysis. Our clients are able to make faster, more informed decisions, win more business and most importantly, save time. Our fast-growing list of clients includes 9 of the top 10 Investment Banks, leading Asset Managers, Hedge Funds and Law Firms.

About This Role

We are seeking a Product Designer to join our UK based News & Automation team. This is a key role, focused on shaping the future of 9fin. You'll be designing tools that are used by our internal data teams, which will improve the reliability and speed of our news service for customers.

Every Day Is Different, But Here Are a Few Things You Might Have Worked On Recently If You Were Already Part Of The Team:

  • Redesigning an internal admin interface to maximise confidence and reduce time on task.
  • Improving existing tools based on user feedback and usage data. For example, optimising a flow to give the user more confidence when making changes to production data.
  • Creating rapid prototypes to explore ideas that leverage new technologies, and figuring out if they show promise to improve the user experience.
  • Testing prototypes with users, then using feedback to refine your ideas before development.
  • Joining discovery interviews to understand how users currently work, then distilling those insights into clear user journeys with the help of a PM.
  • Collaborating with engineers to design efficient solutions that are practical to implement and still deliver value.
  • Travelling to our Belfast office to participate in workshops with the team to align on user needs and map out potential solutions.
  • Contributing to our design system to ensure consistency across new features.

You'll be joining a cross-functional team with a PM and multiple engineers, where you'll have significant autonomy to shape both the vision and execution of new features. While visual polish is important, your focus will be on creating intuitive, efficient user experiences that solve real problems. To be effective, you don't need any knowledge of the Debt Capital Markets industry, but you should be eager to learn and excited to dive deep into this product area.

About You

If these traits describe you, we encourage you to apply and be part of the team:

  • You focus on what's important.
  • You are comfortable with complexity.
  • You care about the details.
  • You are a solid communicator.
  • You know your tools.
  • You can show your design thinking.
  • You test and iterate.
  • You are eager to learn and grow.

Our Benefits

We're a scaling start-up and we enjoy sharing our success; when the company succeeds, we always reinvest that in our people. We also offer huge amounts of responsibility, an abundance of opportunity for growth and a platform to truly excel.

  • Competitive salary (our salary bands are benchmarked at the top end of the market).
  • Pension (your minimum contributions are 4%, with 9fin matching up to 7%).
  • Private Medical Insurance.
  • Paid sick leave with Income Protection for long periods of illness.
  • Group Life Assurance.
  • Season Ticket Loan & Cycle to Work schemes.
  • 25 holiday days per year.
  • Local public holidays (with the ability to exchange them for alternative days).
  • Work abroad for up to 3 months a year.
  • 1 month paid sabbatical after 5 years of service.
  • Enhanced parental leave & flexible working arrangements available.
  • Hybrid working model, to allow you the flexibility to decide how, where and when you do your best work.
  • Professional learning and development budget.
  • Quarterly team socials.
  • Summer and Winter company social events.
