A great opportunity to work with an established and growing care company providing residential live-in support for children and teenagers with challenging behaviour. They also have a thriving parental support unit to support parents and children as a unit in the early stages. They take pride in the support they give the children, believing that setting them up with life skills now will help them turn into well-rounded members of the community. The staff are always on hand to provide emotional support as well as helping to teach and develop the children for the future.

They are recruiting for a Parental Care Centre Support Worker, you will be:

  • Based in a parental contact centre in Widnes
  • Working 3 days per week - 10am till 10pm (36 hours per week) - currently doing 1 sleep-in per week but that will reduce in coming months
  • Working with families and children up to about the age of 16 years old
  • Supporting the family unit as a whole so they can get things back on track with caring for their children
  • Helping to put care plans in operation, looking after and monitoring the safeguarding of the child whilst in their parents’ care
  • Taking extensive notes and reports as these may be called upon in court
  • Spending half the time at the centre in Widnes, the rest of the time working in and around Merseyside doing welfare checks on people in their homes

Benefits and salary of a Parental Contact Centre Support Worker:

  • £14.10 per hour if you already have your level 3 children and young people’s workforce qualification
  • £13.10 per hour if you have the experience but don’t have the above qualification
  • £60 per sleep-in
  • 224 hours holiday per year - you get an extra 2 days when you have been there 2 years
  • Bank holidays paid at x1.5
  • A great support network with further training and development
  • Claim petrol back for 40p per mile

Qualifications/Experience/Requirements to work in parental support:

  • Living within travelling distance to Widnes
  • You must have a full UK driving licence and have your own vehicle
  • They are looking for ideally one male and one female support worker due to certain children’s needs
  • NVQ level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce would be very beneficial but would consider someone working towards it with hands-on experience
  • You would also need some sort of experience working with children within a safeguarding setting - you could be a social worker, community family support background, children’s residential care background, as long as you have experience dealing with children within a safeguarding situation
  • You have to be able to keep good records and paperwork up to date as some of your paperwork will be submitted as court documents
